Visit Imago Dei Neighborhood School in Richmond, VA. Imago Dei means “Image of God,” teachers and administrators are working to create a place where students and families feel safe, nurtured, and known.

For this community, education can be a place of healing. In a city still shaped by racial and social inequities, both past and present, Imago Dei is working to meet those realities with intention, dignity, and love. The work is rooted in the belief that every child bears the image of God, and that public and private schools can work together to heal broken systems.

Meet Sil, who was a public school teacher in Oregon for over 30 years. Sil reflects on her career and how she created spaces where every students could feel safe, welcomed and where they could explore their passions.
